City in Pink illuminated the skyline in pink from Manhattan to Brooklyn to raise New Yorkers’ awareness of the need to “run breast cancer out of town” and celebrate the start of Komen New York City Race for the Cure® Week.

Komen Greater New York City also introduced a new initiative — the Virtual City in Pink. Three websites went pink as part of the celebration. Participants included www.1010WINS.com, www.1067litefm.com and www.cbsnewyork.com.

The kickoff ceremony and VIP reception took place on September 10th at the fantastic and all pink -- Samsung Experience in the Time Warner Center. The event was hosted by Komen Greater NYC Board member and CBS2 anchor Maurice Dubois. The evening’s speakers included First Lady of the State of New York Michelle Paige Paterson and actress, singer and PiNKiTUDE spokesperson Emmy Rossum. The Event Underwriter was Samsung. Event Sponsors were BlackRock, ING and Merrill Lynch. Chef & company provided delicious hors d’oeuvres for the evening and drinks were courtesy of SKYY Vodka.
