The Diane von Furstenberg Studio on West 14th Street was lit up in pink and filled with a well-dressed crowd accented with pink for the sixth annual Tickled Pink! celebration. Hosted by Teens for the Cure®, this year’s celebration was bigger than ever, with mothers and daughters coming along with whole families for this evening of fun, fashion, food, and breast cancer awareness.
Four hundred people packed the two-level space for this year’s event. “In the six years since my daughter Niki and I started the New York Teens for the Cure, I don’t think we’ve had such a strong reaction to the event,” said Iris Dankner, co-chair of Tickled Pink! “It was great to see so many people out to support Komen Greater NYC and to cheer on the survivor models and their families.”
Fashion maven and What Not To Wear co-host Stacy London and advertising guru and television host Donny Deutsch were the hosts of this year’s fashion show of spring/summer 2010 Diane von Furstenberg clothes. The fashion show began with eight willowy professional models showing off 24 different looks from the collection but the highlight was the survivor models, many of whom walked with their children. Some of these women are long-term survivors and others are still in treatment but all of them walked the catwalk with style and grace to the cheers of the capacity crowd.
John Elliott of CBS 2 served as the emcee of this year’s program and Z100’s Danielle Monaro returned for her fifth Tickled Pink! The crowd also enjoyed the music of DJ Kiss, who kept the joint jumping all night.
