Clinical Research Enrollment Grants (CRE)

We did not accept applications for the Clinical Research Enrollment (CRE) Grants program for the 2013 grant cycle. The Request for Applications (RFA) for the 2014 granting cycle (April 2014 March 2016) will be available in August 2013. The deadline to apply will be in October 2013 (date TBA) and award notifications will be made at the end of February 2014.

You may view the 2012 CRE Request for Applications as an example.

Women, especially racial and ethnic minorities, are not adequately represented in cancer research efforts. Multiple barriers — cultural, linguistic, financial, and systematic — hinder their participation in clinical research, and particularly in clinical trials. Through Clinical Research Enrollment Grants, Komen Greater NYC seeks to fund projects that employ effective strategies to overcome these barriers to enrollment and retention in breast cancer clinical research.

To apply for a Komen Greater NYC Clinical Research Enrollment Grant, your organization must be:

  1. A federally tax exempt entity — nonprofit organization, government agency, educational institution, or Indian tribe.
  2. Conducting National Cancer Institute (NCI) or Department of Defense (DOD)-approved breast cancer clinical research, including studies sponsored by Clinical Trials Cooperative Groups (e.g., ACOSOG, ECOG, SWOG, NSABP, ACRIN, and RTOG). The proposed enrollment program may refer patients to non-NCI or DOD approved research studies supported by the applicant institution as long as NCI or DOD research is being conducted as well.
  3. Located in the Komen Greater NYC service area — the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland Counties.

The funding period is two years, based on the Komen Greater NYC fiscal year — April 1st through March 31st. . Programs applying for the CRE grant may request up to $200,000 over this two-year period. Organizations that have previously received Komen Greater NYC funding are welcome to apply for additional funding.
