So, you're here because you want to fundraise for Komen Greater NYC and support your community by running breast cancer out of town... Well, before we get started, we just want to make sure you feel that virtual hug — it's for you. Seriously, your commitment to Create More Moments is inspiring.
Now that we're both settled on your status as an inspiration, we've got a few ideas to make your campaign a booming success!
Make sure to tell all your donors that you are 100% committed to Creating More Moments and running breast cancer out of town.
Change Your Mindset
While you are asking for money, remember that you are giving people the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the fight against breast cancer.
Rally Your Team
Whether you're tweeting, texting, calling, emailing, or shouting it to the world in Times Square, be committed. Let people know how far you are from your goal and how they can help.
Give To Yourself
The best way to encourage others to give is to see that you've donated to your efforts first! Make a kick-off gift!
Make It Personal
Tell YOUR story about why you are Creating More Moments. Your message center provides you with message templates, but the more personal you make your message, the more people will relate, because so many people have been touched by breast cancer.
Ask, Ask, Ask
You don't get what you don't ask for, so make sure you are asking! Donations don't always come from where you expect them to, so cast a wide net and make each ask personal! Use your message center to personalize emails.
Show Your Gratitude
Say thank you early and often to your donors. Update them on your progress and show them the impact they are having. Use your message center to thank your donors.
You'll be surprised at the support you'll receive from a Facebook post, Tweet or Instagram photo. You can even update your Facebook Cover Photo!
Ask for specific amounts from people you know can give bigger gifts, and don't be afraid to follow-up with a call if your personal emails are not getting responses. Need advice on how to ask for these gifts? Just email firstname.lastname@example.org.
