My tenure at the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has been rich with experiences and opportunities that I will not soon forget. However, it is now time for me to move on.

I am writing to let you know that I have made a personal decision to leave my role as the CEO of Komen Greater NYC effective April 27, 2012 to pursue new career opportunities where I may continue to utilize my education, experience and expertise as well as fuel my passion to make a difference in the health and welfare of others. I can assure you that this was not an easy decision, but I am confident that it is the right decision for me.

It has been a true honor and privilege to work collaboratively with each of you over the past four years. I hope you are as proud as I am of all that we have accomplished together, most importantly our success in increasing grassroots community grant funding each year to enhance breast health services and supports in the greater New York metropolitan area despite some of the most difficult economic times in recent history.

Together we have enhanced the lives of thousands of underserved women and families impacted by the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer in our communities. Together, we have provided much needed access to critical breast health services and together, we have undoubtedly saved lives.

As a physician, as a 14-year-and-counting survivor and as the daughter of a 24-year-and-counting survivor, you have my word that I will continue to be a strong advocate for all women and families impacted by breast cancer. I will also continue to do my share to increase the education, awareness, support, advocacy and research to find the cures for a disease that has impacted my life and the lives of so many of you, our loyal supporters.

On a personal note, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of you for so warmly welcoming and embracing me during my tenure at Komen Greater NYC. Your many acts of kindness, generosity and support will forever be in my heart and, because of each of you, I will always have many warm memories on which to reflect.

I do hope our paths cross again.
