Your fundraising is tutu awesome!

Tag us @komengreaternyc with #TutuTuesday to win a free registration for your friend, PLUS rock it at the Race to show everyone YOU are dedicated to the cause.

FUNdraising Tips

Give 100%

Tip 01
Give 100%

Make sure to tell all your donors that you are 100% committed to Race for the Cure and running breast cancer out of town.

Gears turning

Tip 02
Change Your Mindset

While you are asking for money, remember that you are giving people the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the fight against breast cancer.

Thumbs up

Tip 03
Rally Your Team

Whether you're tweeting, texting, calling, emailing, or shouting it to the world in Times Square, be committed. Let people know how far you are from your goal and how they can help.

Piggy Bank

Tip 04
Give To Yourself

The best way to encourage others to give is to see that you've donated to your efforts first! Make a kick-off gift!

Personal letter

Tip 05
Make It Personal

Tell YOUR story about why you Race. Your profile manager provides you with templates of suggested language, but the more personal you make your asks, the more people will relate, because so many people have been touched by breast cancer.

Chatting

Tip 06
Ask, Ask, Ask

You don't get what you don't ask for, so make sure you are asking! Donations don't always come from where you expect them to, so cast a wide net and make each ask personal! Use your message center to personalize emails.

Gratitude

Tip 07
Show Your Gratitude

Say thank you early and often to your donors. Update them on your progress and show them the impact they are having. Use your message center to thank your donors.

Social Media

Tip 08
Get Social

You'll be surprised at the support you'll receive from a Facebook post, Tweet or Instagram photo. You can even update your Facebook Cover Photo!

Magnify

Tip 09
Think BIG

Ask for specific amounts from people you know can give bigger gifts, and don't be afraid to follow-up with a call if your personal emails are not getting responses. Need advice on how to ask for these gifts? Just email info@komennyc.org.

Cell phone

Tip 10
Follow Up

Most people are willing to give, even just a small amount, but need the reminder. Just because they initially don't respond doesn't mean they don't want to support you. It's okay to follow up! Use your message center.

People

Tip 11
Meet For Coffee

Meet face-to-face with some of your potential donors. Nothing is more personal or effective than sitting down and having a conversation.

Komen jacket

Tip 12
Wear Your Komen Gear

It's a great excuse to talk to people about the event, the cause and why you Race.Need to shop? Check out our online store!

T-shirt

Tip 13
Print Team T-Shirts

As a public way to thank your donors, have team t-shirts made to wear at the Race and list all donors on the back!

Math

Tip 14
Double Your Impact

Matching gifts are a great way to double, sometimes triple your impact! Make sure you and your donors check to see if your/their company matches.

Gift-in-hand

Tip 15
Share Special Events

Donate your birthday, wedding or any other special occasion to Race for the Cure and ask people to donate in lieu of gifts!
