I was diagnosed with breast cancer on May 11th 2018 and was declared cancer free on June 7th 2018! Horrible news followed by amazing news with a month full of roller coaster moments in between. Even cancer free, the journey continues as we try to ensure that this is not a battle I face again. I will be undergoing radiation treatment throughout the summer and then take hormone therapy medication for the next 5-10 years. I am so very fortunate to have a huge and amazing support network (that’s you!) who continue to help me through all of this.
Not everyone is as lucky and there are so many women and families who need our support! 1 in 8 women...ONE IN EIGHT! I'm sure I'm not the only person in your circle based on those numbers! So please come join us, team Hakuna Ma Tata, in Central Park on September 9th for the Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure. Over ten thousand New Yorkers will join over a thousand breast cancer survivors (including yours truly!) to run breast cancer out of town!
If you join us please share your page and FUNdraise :) If you can't join us please consider donating. The Race is one day a year, but for women and families dealing with breast cancer, the fight is every day. Finding a cure is an ongoing effort. The money we raise delivers food to women in treatment, offers transportation to chemo, and provides screenings. It also helps fund more research, reduce disparities, and find the cures.
I need your support...we all need your support. Join me, and together, we WILL create more survivors!
